ISHIGAKI, JAPAN…NOT!

We woke up to the news that we could not dock in Ishigaki due to high winds and large waves.  (The ship had been rocking way more than usual.)  Apparently, we could not travel from Tawain directly to China (regulations), so we had to stay anchored in Ishigaki’s harbor for over an hour completing the necessary paperwork before taking off for Shanghai.  That provided us time for a bonus cup of coffee this morning!!

On today’s agenda was the “WORLD OF WINES / Become a connoisseur of wine as you sip your way around the world!” event that was held in the atrium!  (John sipped; I documented!)

We spent time in The Library watching the swells from the windows.  They were quite impressive!  (As long as there were no icebergs, we were good!)

The Captain promised us waves of about 10-12 feet and he delivered on that promise!  The pool was drained, the chairs were stacked, and people all over the ship staggered like they’d had too much to drink!  (Perhaps they had! 😜)

Later in the afternoon I went back to the room to see if I could get in a quick nap.  (I was determined to stay up for the nightlife tonight!). John dressed in his undersized robe and undersized slippers and went down for some sauna time.

John’s time in the sauna was a success.  My time napping was not!  (Oh well!)

We decided on a smorgasbord of lounges and music for our pre-dinner drink!  First up: VISTAS & IVORIES / Cocktail Pianist Rod in the Observatory Lounge!

Next was MARTINIS, MUSIC & DANCING with members of the Regent Signature Orchestra in the Explorer Lounge,

followed by DANCING BEFORE DINNER with Boogie and Kasia in the Explorer Lounge!

Dave and Michelle joined us at the bar with our favorite bartenders, John and Alvia.  We all enjoyed a fabulous Italian dinner and listened to the delightful pianist, Panos Karan. The scheduled show was postponed to due to high waves and an unsteady dance floor.  But Panos persevered!

After the show we went back in to listen to Boogie and Kasia (they are SOMUCHFUN)!  We all got up and danced, however, Michelle owned the dance floor with Kasia!  It was an entertaining night, to be sure!

  1. WOW! Compare winds and waves to Drake Passage!

  2. For sure! But we did not hear any plates crashing this time! But I was sure glad we weren’t prone to sea sickness!
