AND THE JOURNEY CONTINUES AND FINALLY ENDS IN BANGKOK!
Don’t ask me what time it really is or where we really are, because I am CLUELESS! We took off last night at about 11:15 LA time and right now (after sleeping for hours) my iPad is telling me it is 12:09PM. We are supposed to land in Hong Kong at 7ishAM. So shouldn’t it be 12:09AM?
These time zones never stop confusing me! (I probably slept through the high school classes that covered them! Sigh.) All I know is that the total flight time to Hong Kong is 16 hours and then a quick 2 1/2 hour flight and we will be at our destination: BANGKOK! John just woke up and told me we only had three hours left until we arrive in Hong Kong!
So, if you need us, this is where we’ll be!
We arrived in Hong Kong! Those 16 hours flew by—seriously! I mean, who can complain with coffee in hand, a very quiet plane, and unlimited reading time? This is what I call a great start to our adventure.
We completed our 16 hours flight to Hong Kong (CHECK!) and are currently in a “holding pattern” until we reboard and head to Bangkok. Getting closer!
Two and a half hours later…WE ARRIVED IN BANGKOK! CHECK!
We checked into our condo, showered, unpacked and set off to roam the neighborhood. We found a tiny grocery store where we picked up a few necessities and then the smell of Shawarma's lured us into a great restaurant for a really early dinner. (Can you believe we had a Shawarma the first night in Bangkok?)
I love the shrines on every street corner! Bangkok is known for its numerous revered shrines, ranging from major Hindu sites in the city center to local spirit houses!
When we finished walking around, we went for a Thai massage! I’ve dreamt of these massages since we were last in Bangkok (ten years ago). Back then they were $7.00 for an hour massage. Tonight we paid 350 baht (around $11.29) for the most painful massage known to man. I loved every minute of it and John did not! (He’s wimpy that way!)
CHECK! CHECK!! CHECK!!! And CHECK!!!!

So painful massage but good?! How are you feeling afterwards??
ReplyDeleteWhat is Shawarma besides food? Seafood?
Yes! Thai massages can be REALLY deep tissue massages—those tiny Thai ladies are STRONG! They hurt during but feel good after! Shawarmas are a popular middle eastern dish—we ate them in Dubai!
DeleteSo happy you made it - have a great time!!!!
