SHANGHAI, CHINA, DAY TWO!

It was a sunny morning in Shanghai with bright blue skies! (Hurray!)

We boarded the tour bus to go to the Shanghai Maglev Train Station, where we rode the magnetic levitation train that had speeds up to 300km/hour.

In eight minutes flat we arrived at our destination, the Pudung International Airport.  We rode the train back to the station and browsed the Maglev Train Museum.  We were given 40 minutes to walk through it (and I didn’t need one second more)!  Honestly, it was pretty cool (for a museum, that is)!

Next, we bussed it to the Jin Mao Building, one of the tallest buildings in Shanghai.  It had an observation deck (on the 88th floor) with beautiful views of the city. (But darn, by the time we got there our blue skies were gone for the day!)

From the Observation Deck you could look down 33 stories and see the atrium of the Grand Hyatt Hotel!

Perhaps, although it felt like a true end-of-winter day in Shanghai, it was springtime after all!

It was lunchtime by the time our tour ended and we were all a bit chilled and famished!  We quickly warmed up and filled up and it wasn’t long before we were all feeling pretty good once again!  The Explorer (our ship) was set to sail at 4:30, so John and I layered up one more time and went to the sun deck (inappropriately named, at that moment) to watch the departure.

(Note the “crazies” in the hot tub!)

I went to a Guided Meditation Class while John savored his first Old Fashion of the day!  We enjoyed yet another delicious Italian dinner (John’s was picture perfect),

before heading to another great evening show!  We found out today that this amazing Asian dancer was from Indianapolis!  (We’ll have to try to meet her!)

It was fun watching the progress of our ship from where it was docked at the Shanghai International Cruise Terminal, to cruising down the Huan Pu River to the Yangtze River and finally into the East China Sea!  Tomorrow’s a sea day and then we will arrive in BUSAN, KOREA!
